UNE Sci-Flicks presents San Andreas!

It’s been a while since the last UNE Sci-Flicks, but with Belgrave Cinema back open to the public, it’s time for another!

This time, Sci-Flicks is presenting San Andreas, starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, along with a Q&A with UNE’s resident earthquake expert Dr Luke Milan.

Luke is a senior lecturer in the Earth Science department at The University of New England, Armidale. His research uses multifaceted field and lab-based analyses to understand and unravel the processes and tectonic events recorded in ancient dynamic continental plate boundaries. Luke has experience working in the minerals exploration industry both in Australia and Latin America.

He’ll be discussing San Andreas and how realistic (or otherwise!) it is, and what points it raises about natural disasters, plate tectonics and the real-life San Andreas fault.
