One Million Turtles Project Wins Eureka Award
In August the One Million Turtles project was awarded the Eureka Prize for Innovation in Citizen Science by the Australian Museum. A joint project between a number of Australian universities, including UNE, One Million Turtles is dedicated to saving freshwater turtles in Australia and getting the public involved.
We sat down with Dr Deborah Bower to discuss the project, and why citizen science is so important.
Dr Bower explains why projects like these are so important, and what their goal is.
“We’re trying to fly the flag for freshwater turtles, which play really important roles in our river systems.”
