What’s missing from National Missing Persons Week?
Each year in Australia, 55 thousand people go missing. Many of these people have complex mental health needs, or are fleeing from violent and broken homes. Though there is significant emphasis placed on searching for these people, there is still an urgent need to implement prevention strategies to help people before they take drastic action.
TuneFM had the pleasure to sit down with the wonderful Sarah Wayland from the University of New England (AU) and Manna Institute to discuss her experience in the missing persons sector, the complexities involved in reporting on these cases, and where agencies and governments can improve their responses.
